Overcoming Maths Fear in CA Foundation

Are you aspiring to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) but find yourself fearful of the Maths paper in the CA Foundation exam? Don't worry, you're not alone. Many students share the same concern, but with the right approach, you can tackle the maths paper and increase your chances of success.

The CA Foundation maths paper includes three parts : Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics.

Each part carries a different weightage, with mathematics being the heaviest at 40 marks, logical reasoning at 20, and statistics at 40.

The good news is that logical reasoning is considered the easiest, so it's a good idea to start your preparation with this section.

Additionally, statistics may be your comfort part if you've already covered the topics in your 11th and 12th-grade classes. Revisit your school notes, and you'll find that big portion of the syllabus has similar base.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room – the maths section. The maths syllabus in CA Foundation covers 80% of the material you studied up to your 10th standard. This means you already have a solid foundation in most of the topics which gives you clear vision that you're not starting from scratch.

To pass the maths section, here are some practical tips:

Practice is Key:

There's no substitute for practice when it comes to maths. Regularly solve problems, work on examples, and attempt mock tests. The more you practice, the more comfortable you'll become with the concepts.

Calculator Tricks for Speed:

Utilize your calculator effectively to save time during the exam. Familiarize yourself with shortcut techniques and calculator functions that can speed up your problem-solving process.

No Fear of Negative Marking:

Don't let the fear of negative marking drop your performance. While it's essential to be cautious, it's equally important to attempt a sufficient number of questions to secure passing marks.

Aim for 70%:

Try to answer at least 70% of the questions in your paper. This goal gives you extra support and improves your chances of doing well.
